Post Date:04/17/2024 6:37 p.m.

Survey results to provide insights into high speed internet needs of Mountain View residents and businesses

Mountain View, Calif. The City of Mountain View is conducting a study of internet availability, access and affordability as part of a citywide broadband needs assessment. The City is seeking to gather first-hand information through the survey to improve household and business access to high-speed and affordable internet service.

Access the online survey, which is available in English, Spanish, Chinese and Russian.

The City has contracted with a consultant to explore improvements to fiber broadband coverage for the community. The consultant will assess public assets, evaluate the broadband market, and conduct a gap analysis to help the City support equitable broadband service to business and residential communities.

The online survey is only the first step in the assessment process. In the coming weeks, the City will hold community workshops and focus groups with residents, businesses, stakeholders and community groups to understand how to chart a path forward that achieves high-speed, affordable broadband service across Mountain View.

Information from the survey will only be used for broadband planning purposes and will not be shared with any other entity. No personal information is required to complete the survey, which will run through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 9.

The Needs Assessment is scheduled to be completed in fall 2024, and the City will share updated information as it becomes available.

This initiative will explore the community need and challenges involved with expanding access to broadband in support of the City’s ‘Community for All’ strategic priority.
